Beneficiary Designations

Make a Gift in a Few Easy Steps

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their wills or estates. Some prefer the flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:

  • IRAs and retirement plans
  • Commercial annuities
  • Donor advised funds
  • Life insurance policies
  • Bank or brokerage Accounts

It is very simple to name the University of Dayton as a beneficiary. Start by requesting a change-of-beneficiary form from your policy administrator or download the form from your provider's website. Make your desired changes and return the form to establish your gift.

A Stroke of Genius

Rob Wenning '69 and his wife KarenRob Wenning '69 and his wife, Karen, don't have any children and their siblings have done well, so when they were trying to figure out what to do with their estate, they were stuck. They reached out to UD and learned about the benefits of a blended gift and made UD the beneficiary of an IRA that they are also donating qualified chariatable distributions (QCDs) from. With these gifts they established the Robert and Karen Wenning Endowed Scholarship to support deserving sophomore-to- senior students in the computer science program at UD. And both Rob and Karen were surprised at how simple it was. "It's really easy to set up your QCD," said Karen. "You don't really have to do much, and it truly helps somebody."
